See, I was in Amsterdam. The sign says so. Indianish food enroute to Mumbai
Our layover in Amsterdam was brief. As soon as we got off the plane, we located a monitor with departure information and found that our next flight was already boarding. Although it wasn't scheduled to leave for an hour, we figured we should head over to the gate just to be safe.

At the gate, there were 4 different security checks:

1) The first person asked where we had started our travels and who we were traveling with. When he was satisfied with our answers, he put an orange sticker on our tickets.

2) The second guy asked about our bags. This consisted of all of the questions they used to ask for domestic flights at home. (Who packed these bags? Has anyone given you anything to carry?, etc.)

3) The third person checked our visas

4) The fourth person checked our carry on bags for weapons/explosives

Feeling duly inspected we boarded the eight and a half hour flight to Mumbai. (Bombay was officially renamed Mumbai in 1996 to go back to the original name used there before the Brits came in.)

This flight was on Northwest Airlines again and wasn't much different than any flight at home. Except when they served lunch and we got a vegetarian paneer dish, a yogurt salad, naan, a almond dessert. (See picture)

This time, I was seated next to Nicole. We chatted a bit about grad school and our project and both slept through the Bollywood movie. Jet lag had caught up with us.
